Today His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent has been visiting the 1st Battalion The Scots Guards Battlegroup, currently serving in Afghanistan on OP Herrick 12 as part of 4th Mechanized Brigade. The visit gives the Duke a Unique opportunity to see members of the Battalion in an operational environment.

The Duke, who is the Regimental Colonel of the Scots Guards, has always maintained a close relationship with the Battalion. He was also escorted on the visit by the Regimental Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel Alastair Mathewson OBE and made visits to Camp Bastion, Lashkar Gah and various Patrol Bases (PB) in the Scots Guards Area of Operation (AO).
