Son of Captain Charles and Mrs Ursula Cottrell-Dormer, of Rousham, Steeple Aston, Oxon. Educated at Eton. Joined 1911. His brothers Charles Melville Cottrell-Dormer, Coldstream Guards and Humphrey Cottrell-Dormer, Royal Navy also fell.
