Year of Birth 1896
Enlisted 31 Dec 1915 at Leeds Occupation: Gardener. Age 19 years 1 month. M
1911 Census -His sister age 34 was head of the household no parents but other brothers/sisters. Although it doesn't list a full address the area was Budletts just to North of Uckfield.Aged 14 he's listed as a Gardener.
I found his medal record card, these are a simple card index system to record medals awarded. A British War Medal & the Victory Medal it doesn't see to list a date qualified unless it's the hand written 18/5.
The only other records found are a medical document which says he was in hospital for a month in London between 13 March 1916 - 13 April 1916. On the basis he enlisted on 31 Dec 1915 it would be while he was a recruit at the Gds Depot or just maybe when he was with 3rd (Reserve Bn) at the Tower of London.
Also attached is the CWGC certificate with his details. He's buried at Bucquoy Road Cemetery, Ficheux if you click of the link below it explains and I suspect he may have been wounded and brought into the Hospital / Casualty Clearing Station where he died.
