02.09.1936 attested into the Scots Guards, civil occupation Labourer.
15.10.1940 posted 50 Middle East Commando.
05.03.1941 posted Depot Middle East Commando.
04.04.1941 posted to 'D' Bn., Layforce on completion of signal course.
02.06.1941 reported missing Crete, later confirmed prisoner of war.
06.04.1945 his mother died in Lanark.
25.04.1945 liberated by American Forces.
23.02.1946 released to reserve.
Post war in 1945 joined the Dumbartonshire Constabulary. Retired in the rank of Police Superintendent. Resided in Bothwell South Lanarkshire.
