Octagonal Base and plinth surmounted by tapering shaft headed by a Latin cross. Inscription on plinth and base in black lettering. A commemorative Pear tree for the Quintinshill Disaster was planted beside the memorial on 22 May 2015, and cut down by vandals 3 months later
