Son of Col. Charles Rivers Bulkeley, C.B., and the late Constance Clementine Bulkeley.
The Battle of Festubert was the continuation of the Battle of Aubers Ridge (9th May) and part of a larger French Second Battle of Artois. The 15th.of May was to be the first day of the ten day battle, an attack by the British Army in the Artois region of France on the western front.
A company of 125 men under the command of Captain Bulkeley arrived at the end of April. Little is known of Captain Charles Ivor Rivers- Bulkeley except that he was reported missing on the second dav of the battle. His body was subsequently recovered, identified arid buried. The British suffered 16,648 casualties, either from loss, injury or capture from 15-25 May
