David E. Loder, Lieutenant, was killed in action on 23 Oct 1943 in the Italian Theatre of War. He was born in London, and his residence was in Oxfordshire. He enlisted in the 2nd Battalion, Foot Guards, Scots Guards Regiment, and was serving in that unit when he was killed. His service number was 176772. He is buried at the Minturno War Cemetery, Minturno, Provincia di Latina, Lazio, Italy: Plot: VI. D. 5.
He was 23 years old, the elder son of Hubert and Brenda Loder. A memorial service was held on 20 Nov 1943 at St. Nicholas Church, Tackley, Oxford. A notice was place by Mrs. Loder, The Little Manor, Tackley, in the "London Times" on 18 Nov 1943 noting the time and place of the service.
