Description:

Grey granite tapering plinth set on four-stepped base surmounted by bronze figures. Figure of armoured crusader on charger flanked by four figures of infantrymen trudging through mud. Crusader with shield and pennant bearing cross of St Andrew. The arms of the burgh are set on a sword in relief on the 6 o'clock face of plinth. Sword flanked by shields in relief bearing cross of St Andrew on right and cross of St George on left. Dedicatory inscription in relief incised into base below shields and sword. Two plaques with raised inscription of battlefield locations set into 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock faces. Each plaque with palm branches and crown in relief at top centre. Shields in relief on 12 o'clock face of plinth. Whole set on platform with retaining wall on three sides. Shields in relief set into exterior face of retaining wall.
