Lt Col Guy Taylor held the position of CO 2 SG until Nov 1943, subsequently took command of 1SG in Italy where he was killed in action on the 26th of June 1944 whilst Commanding from the front under bombardment of
Concentrated enemy Mortar fire.
Colonel Taylor had always been most careful of the lives and welfare of his men, he was sorely missed by both 1st
and 2nd BN’s. He was succeeded on the battlefield by his second In command Maj R. D. Cardiff.
