Born West Striton, Keig, Aberdeenshire, son of Francis Peter (general merchant's assistant) & Elizabeth Porter Ironside, resident of Neilston. Widow, Margaret M.R.C.C. Robertson Ironside & 4 children resident of 10 McKerrell Street, Paisley. A giant of a man at 6' 4" who joined Paisley Burgh Police in 1912. Enlisted, September 1914, and was promoted sergeant on the field of battle in France during January 1915.
