Private George Sinclair, a ploughman, was called up on 22 December 1916. His home was at Euroch Farm, Kilmartin. He was in the 1st Battalion in the BEF from 13 August 1917 until posted back, nominally to the 3rd Battalion, but in fact to hospital, on 10 June 1918, having been first admitted to a military hospital at Rouen with pleurisy on 21 April 1918. He was recorded as “Dangerously ill” several times.

He was eventually discharged early in 1919 “No longer physically fit for war service” owing to pleurisy 100% attributable to war service. He was awarded the Silver War Badge issued to war disabled
