Donald was the third of the four sons of Alan Walter Boyd [later Lennox-Boyd] and his second wife, Florence Annie Begbie. He was born in Bournemouth.
He was educated at Sherborne and matriculated in 1925. He graduated with a 4th in History in 1928.
He was gazetted to the Scots Guards from the General List T.A. on 23 August 1927.
.On 16 October 1933 he was appointed A.D.C. to the High Commissioner & Commander-
in-Chief, Palestine and High Commissioner Trans-Jordan. He was restored to his regiment on 16 January, the following year.
In April 1939, he was with his brother George in Germany when the Nazis arrested them. He died in custody in Stuttgart, Germany on 5 April 1939. George was released.
Administration was granted to his widowed mother. He left £3868-6-2.
His address was given as Henlow Grange, Bedfordshire.
The fine oak pews in Henlow church were designed by the eminent architect Sir Albert Richardson and given in memory of him and his brothers whose memorial tablet can be seen on the south wall.
