Major General William Edward Montgomery of Grey Abbey born 18 July, baptised at St. George's, Hanover Square, London, 21st August 1847.
Married Alberta Victoria Ponsonby in the Guards Chapel, London on 22 June 1891.
Educated at Eton, entered the Scots Guards 27th June 1866, served in the Zulu War 1879, present at the Battle of Ulundi (mentioned in despatches, Medal and Clasp), Colonel 1884, Assistant Military Secretary to the General Officer commanding at the Cape of Good Hope 1880-85, Major-General 13th January 1895, J.P- and D.L. for County Down."
